DSPT FACULTY

The DSPT faculty reflects the School's strong commitment to scholarship. Faculty members combine academic expertise in their fields, with a genuine interest in the insights, needs and creative work of their students. Teaching is of central importance. Classes are small, and faculty members are easily accessible to students. Philosophy department faculty members are active in both classical and contemporary philosophy, offering courses in the thought of Plato, Aristotle, and Thomas Aquinas as well as Kant, Heidegger, Ricoeur, Gadamer and others. The Theology department faculty teach classes in Scripture, church history, dogmatic and moral theology, the cultural and historical study of religion, Islamic studies, spirituality, and religion and the arts.

Graduate Theological Union (GTU) Faculty

DSPT Students also have the opportunity to take advantage of the faculty and resources of all of the GTU member schools and affiliates. The faculty of the GTU is comprised of over 150 scholars in various fields and disciplines and offers over 750 classes. You can browse a full list of the GTU faculty on the GTU's website.

University of California, Berkeley Faculty

Without additional tuition of fees, DSPT graduate students may also take classes at the University of California, Berkeley. UC Berkeley's academic departments consistently rank among the top in the country. The UC Berkeley faculty includes seven Nobel Laureates and over 25 MacArthur Fellows.

Angelicum Faculty

Students at the DSPT have the opportunity to study at the Angelicum, also known as the Dominican Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas,  in the center of Rome, founded in the 17th century, which draws professors and students from around the globe.  To learn more about the DSPT program see the Rome Residency Program page.
