The 20th Annual Aquinas Lecture
"Christ and Israel: An Unresolved Question in Catholic Theology"
- presented by Bruce Marshall, PhD
March 3rd, 2010
DSPT welcomed Dr. Bruce Marshall, Professor of Historical Theology at Perkins School of Theology. In his talk, Christ and Israel, Dr. Marshall offered ideas on constructive contributions from Catholic theology that work to resolve the tension between two basic affirmations of the Catholic faith: the universal mission of Christ and his Church, and the irrevocable election of Israel – the undying fidelity of God to the Jewish people.
Dr. Marshall is the author of Trinity and Truth (Cambridge, 2000), Christology in Conflict (Blackwell, 1987) and over fifty articles in journals such as The Thomist, Pro Ecclesia, and Modern Theology. He is currently writing a book about St. Thomas’s understanding of the Jewish people and its relevance to contemporary Jewish-Catholic dialogue.
