ASDSPT Tilden Hiking RetreatASDSPT Tilden Hiking RetreatThis spring semester the DSPT Student Council organized an excursion to explore the wandering trails of Berkeley's local hill side at the Tilden Regional Park. A group of 8 students, joined by Father Jerome Cudden, OP, spent Saint Patrick's Day hiking the Quarry Trail, taking in the rolling hills and the breathtaking views of the Bay Area. After a few hours of peaceful meditation on the area's natural beauty in the company of fellow students, lunch was enjoyed at the peak of the trail overlooking the on one side San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge while on the other, Lake Anza and the surrounding valley. Father Jerome gave a thoughtful talk on the state of modern media's treatment of the traditionally understood Seven Deadly Sins which in turn sparked a lively conversation on how the church at large should reach out to the currently media-consumed generation and how best to approach the state of modern entertainment in general. The afternoon was wrapped up after the decent from the ridge, with spirits high as the sun came down. |
