From the Lecturer
I consider it an honor to work with students who value theology and helping others. As we work together we will integrate these two qualities, in a professional and effective manner, and in doing so we will work towards our greatest calling to love one another.
Graduating with honors from Bethany University, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and Masters of Science in Clinical Psychology. I completed both my practicum and internship at Bay Area Christian Counseling in Brentwood, CA. I am a licensed marriage family therapist with a practice in Walnut Creek, where I work with individuals and families dealing with a variety of emotional and relational challenges. I serve as a registered facilitator for Prepare-Enrich, working with couples to strengthen their marriages. Additionally, I work as a preferred clinician with Focus on the Family. Further, I coordinate and facilitate workshops ranging in length and depth of materials for couples in marriage and those preparing to enter marriage.
My Christian theology and relationship with my Savior is at the center of who I am both in and out of the office. I am not a licensed secular therapist who happens to be a Christian, but a professionally trained clinician whose Christian faith and Biblical worldview integrates with my technical training and life experience. My desire is to see people that are in desperate need of healing and to experience the truth and love of Jesus Christ. I believe that through brokenness and pain, we experience the healing touch of God and bring glory to His name.
It is my hope that students will grow in their passion to love and serve others and apply the fundamentals of pastoral care into their personal lives with tangible results of enriched relationship. I desire that students will feel confident in interacting with those in need, as well as know when an appropriate referral is necessary. We all have limitations and there are professional boundaries, learning to balance and respect those is a critical aspect of pastoral counseling.
My husband Casey and I live in Concord, California and we have three daughters that bring us great joy. We have two Greater Swiss Mountain dogs and participate in furthering the breed in American Kennel Club dog shows for conformation and a strict breeding program. Our family is active in our church where we all fill various leadership roles and where we give of our time, treasure, and talents.
I am an active member in the American Association of Christian Counselors and the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
