Registering for Classes

Step-by-step instructions

DSPT uses Populi as its student information system for course registration, advising and managing the requirements of your program. The Populi Knowledge Base provides written descriptions and video tutorials to answer your questions regarding the site itself.

You can learn more about the totality of classes offered through the GTU at the GTU Course Schedule.

Registering for Classes

In Populi, choose the My Profile tab and you will see the Registration tab. NOTE: the Registration page will only appear when the online enrollment period is open. Please see the DSPT Academic Calendar for the Registration dates for each term. Step-by-step registration instructions will guide you through the process.

Please review the DSPT Registration Guidelines. You cannot register for courses if you do not meet the prerequisites assigned to them, have time conflicts, or do not have your advisor's approval.

Instructions for Special Courses:

  1. Special Reading Courses (SRC)
For any proposed SRC, you should contact the professor, make the necessary arrangements, complete the Special Reading Course Form, obtain the signatures of the faculty, advisor and DSPT Academic Dean, and submit the form to the DSPT Registrar during the Registration period. You should register online for the reading course using the course number SRC-9999-01 for an arranged special reading course or course number SRC-8888-01 to upgrade a regularly scheduled course. The special reading course will appear on the transcript as SRC-9999 or SRC-8888.
  2. Cross Registration with another GTU school or center
You must complete the DSPT Cross Registration Form and submit to the DSPT Registrar during the Registration period.
  3. Cross Registration for a UC Berkeley Course
If you want to cross register at UC Berkeley, you will need to register in Populi for “UCB 9000”.  Then come to the registrar’s office to pick up the special UCB cross registration form, fill it out, and get it signed by all parties.  Submit a copy to the DSPT registrar, and turn in the original form to the GTU registrar (who will facilitate the actual enrollment with UCB) no later than Friday afternoon of the FIRST WEEK of classes.

Tuition Billing

Tuition statements will be available in Populi on the Monday following the close of late registration. Statements will reflect charges for registered classes, fees, institutional financial aid awards, and any anticipated federal financial aid and may be paid by e-check or credit card.

Please feel free to contact the Registrar with any questions or concerns.
