From the Professor

In my courses, I offer a wide philosophical context while providing opportunities for specialized research. By the end of their program, the students should be able to relate problems in the philosophical tradition to contemporary research, to translate between incommensurable philosophical systems, and to make a personal contribution to the philosophical discussion.

I teach some hybrid courses that comprise an online lecture and a weekly discussion meeting. The goal of the online session is to provide some flexibility that can suit the student’s previous philosophical background, learning speed and schedule. The discussion portion of the course is aimed at fostering dialog, sharpening philosophical argumentation and skills.

I am a member of the Berkeley Social Ontology Group, The American Philosophical Association, and SITEM - Seminario de Estética Musical, España.
